‘Make in India’ solutions through HSRIC in the field of High Speed Railway System
Published Date: 14-09-2023

The HSR Innovation Centre (HSRIC), under the aegis of :contentReference[oaicite:0]{index=0}, has undertaken several collaborative research projects with premier institutions like :contentReference[oaicite:1]{index=1} and :contentReference[oaicite:2]{index=2} for the development of indigenous solutions in the railway domain, especially High-Speed Rail.

The 6th Advisory Council meeting of HSRIC was held under the leadership of :contentReference[oaicite:3]{index=3}, Managing Director, along with NHSRCL Directors and senior officers, the President of :contentReference[oaicite:4]{index=4}, faculty from :contentReference[oaicite:5]{index=5}, and Directors from IIT Delhi, IIT Mumbai, IIT Kanpur, IIT Gandhinagar, IIT Madras, IIT Roorkee, IIT Tirupati, and IIT Kharagpur, to review the ongoing projects.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Rajendra Prasad, Managing Director, NHSRCL said that the indigenous development of simultaneous software for design and validation of traction and power supply, in collaboration with IISc Bangalore, IIT Bombay, and IIT Delhi, is a major milestone towards the “Make in India” initiative, as the country is currently dependent on foreign software.

The ongoing projects are related to the Civil Engineering domain, such as design of reinforced earth structures for HSR and railway applications, detailed study on Cement Asphalt Mortar (CAM) for high-speed railway track, and optimization of high-speed railway viaduct design. In the Electrical domain, projects include simulation modelling for power supply and Overhead Equipment (OHE) designs.

Apart from development, several Technical papers have been published in the field of Traction Power Supply System and Dynamic Interaction of Pantograph and Catenary under the aegis of HSRIC by IITD and IISc &IITB teams in Conferences of Institute of Electrical & Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and in Proceedings of Vibration Engineering and Technology of Machinery Conference (VETOMAC) in the year 2022-2023.
