A self-help group named ‘BRUDHEE’ has been registered to help women generate income.
Vegshakti Mahila Kalyan Sangathan (VMKS), a women organization under the aegis of National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL), distributed 21 sewing machines to the women of project-affected families in the Anand district, Gujarat, today.
Under the Income Restoration Programme for the project-affected people, NHSRCL, through Rural Self Employment Training Institutes (RSETI), had organised a month-long, free of cost ‘Stitching and Tailoring’ training programme for the women of Boriyavi and Samarkha villages in Anand district. These courses are designed to instil skill sets in women and enable them to generate income and become Atmanirbhar.
In order to help these women generate income, a self-help group under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Urban Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NULM) named BRUDHEE (Bullet Rural & Urban Development by Holistic Entrepreneurial Education) is also registered in Anand District.
NHSRCL is also organising construction-related training programmes in association with Construction Skills Training Institute (CSTI) for project-affected families. More than 34 trainees are undergoing construction-related training at CSTI and improving their skills and employability.
The event was attended by MD/NHSRCL Shri Achal Khare, President/VMKS Smt. Sarita Khare, Land Acquisition Officer – Anand District, CPM/NHSRCL/Vadodara.
Speaking on the occasion, the Managing Director of NHSRCL, Shri Achal Khare said: “NHSRCL’s land acquisition process is not limited to payment of compensation, R&R assistance etc.; it also includes skill development, training enhancement for income restoration, and development of livelihood restoration and income generation opportunities for the project-affected persons. Extensive engagement is being undertaken to ensure that all PAPs are well informed about the available options and are given adequate opportunity to participate.”
More than 300 PAPs (269 PAPs from Gujarat) from Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail Project have benefited from these training programmes under the Income Restoration Plan, and more than 100 have already been employed or have started their own business.
A number of similar training programmes, including Construction skills, Hotel Management, Data Analytics using Python, mobile repairing, bike repairing, electrician courses, etc., are being carried out in various villages along the MAHSR Corridor. Vegshakti Mahila Kalyan Sangathan (VMKS), a registered society under the aegis of NHSRCL, composed of lady officers of the organization and wives of officers working in NHSRCL, has already provided a scholarship of Rs 75,000/- per year to each of the two selected female students of IITGN for all four years of their BTech studies.
RSETIs are Rural Self Employment Training Institutes, an initiative of the Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD) to have dedicated infrastructure in each district of the country to impart training and skill upgradation of rural youth geared towards entrepreneurship development. RSETIs are managed by banks with active co-operation from the Government of India and State Governments.
