NHSRCL Signs Contract with Larsen & Toubro for 237 km Viaduct Package of MAHSR Corridor
The National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) has signed a contract agreement with Larsen & Toubro Limited for the Design and Construction of approximately 237 km length of viaduct between Vapi (Zaroli Village at Maharashtra-Gujarat Border) and Vadodara in the state of Gujarat for the 508 km Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail Corridor.
The contract also includes four HSR stations namely Vapi, Billimora, Surat, and Bharuch, along with Surat Depot, 14 river crossings, 42 road crossings, and 6 railway crossings, including one mountain tunnel of 350 metres.

The contract signing ceremony was held at the corporate office of NHSRCL in New Delhi (subject to confirmation/amendment if required).
Project award timeline:
- Technical bids were opened on 23rd September 2020
- Financial bids were opened on 19th October 2020 after technical evaluation
- Letter of Acceptance was issued on 28th October 2020
The duration for completion of the works is four years from the date of commencement of the contract.
During the construction phase of this section, the surrounding areas along the alignment are expected to witness significant social and economic development. The project will generate employment opportunities for professionals such as engineers, technicians, designers, and architects, as well as for skilled and semi-skilled workers and construction labor.
In addition, there will be increased demand for construction materials and machinery such as cement, steel, heavy construction equipment, cranes, and trailers. Allied sectors such as hospitality, entertainment, healthcare, tourism, real estate, housing, and education are also expected to benefit during the construction phase.
