Published Date: 29-09-2025

The Mumbai–Ahmedabad Bullet Train project has successfully completed the launching of the viaduct over the Girdhar Nagar flyover, a Railway Over Bridge (ROB) on the Delhi–Ahmedabad main line (Western Railway) in Ahmedabad district. The viaduct runs parallel to the existing railway line, and the launching over the flyover was completed on 15th September 2025.

The construction involved launching a 45-meter-long span using the advanced Span-by-Span (SBS) method, ensuring precision and efficiency in execution.

Salient Features

• Length of span over flyover: 45 meters

• Height of viaduct (ground to rail level): 19.5 meters

• Number of segments launched: 19

• Total weight of span: 1200 metric tons

The Girdhar Nagar bridge is a two-lane flyover and one of the busiest routes in Ahmedabad, connecting Shahibaug, Asarwa, and Kalupur. It serves as a vital corridor for thousands of daily commuters.

To ensure minimal disruption to public movement, the launching activity was meticulously planned and completed within just 12 days, well within the approved block period extending up to 20th September.

Comprehensive safety and traffic management measures were implemented during the execution. These included proper barricading, traffic diversion signage, timely dissemination of route diversion information, deployment of traffic marshals, and adequate lighting arrangements during night operations.
