National High Speed Rail Corporation Opens Financial Bids for P-4 Package of Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail Corridor

National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) has opened financial bids for the procurement and fabrication of 28 steel bridges for crossing over railway lines, rivers, highways, roads, and other structures (P-4 Package) for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail Corridor today.

Larsen & Toubro – IHI Infrastructure Systems (Consortium) has emerged as the lowest bidder. This consortium is a collaboration between Indian and Japanese companies.

Total bidders and technical qualification:

  • Total 8 bidders participated in the bidding process.
  • Only 4 bidders were qualified after technical evaluation.

Qualified bidders:

  • Tata Projects Ltd.
  • Afcons Infrastructure Ltd.
  • NCC Ltd.
  • Larsen & Toubro – IHI Infrastructure Systems Consortium

It is estimated that about 70,000 MT of steel will be used for the fabrication of these steel bridges, which is expected to significantly boost Indian steel industries and their allied supply chains. NHSRCL has already sensitized the steel industry to cater to the large-scale demand generated by India’s first High Speed Rail corridor.

NHSRCL has already awarded civil contracts for the construction of 64% of the MAHSR alignment, which includes five HSR stations (Vapi, Billimora, Surat, Bharuch, Anand/Nadiad), a train depot at Surat, and one mountain tunnel of 350 metres.
