NHSRCL is inviting entries for finding a name for India’s first bullet train and designing its mascot (similar to Maharaja for Air India or Bholu for Indian Railways). The mascot should be a well-designed character that personifies the value system of NHSRCL and can communicate effectively with the public.
Naming the bullet train will provide it with a distinct identity, helping people establish a connection with it. To encourage public participation, an open online competition has been organized on www.mygov.in, where participants could submit their entries until 25th March 2019. Interested participants can find more details by visiting the website.
The name of the train and the mascot will be shortlisted by a nominated committee. Winners will be awarded a cash prize along with a certificate confirming their participation in the contest. Additionally, five consolation prizes will be awarded in each category for entries that were notable but did not win due to minor reasons.
The logo of NHSRCL, adopted in 2017, symbolizes speed through a “cheetah,” while the red and blue lines represent calm and reliability.
National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) is a joint sector company of the Government of India and participating state governments, established for the implementation of the High-Speed Rail Corridor Project between Mumbai and Ahmedabad.
